I resigned from my job when my manager who has worked for 12yrs, could not buy shoes - Emmanuel Igbasan
According to a news that was published by The Nation Newspaper online this morning, it was reported that Emmanuel Igbasan, who happens to be a chartered management accountant, and the Ondo State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, during an interview with The Nation's correspondent, has shared his grass-to-grace story as a former bricklayer, commercial motorcycle operator and commercial bus driver.
During the interview, Emmanuel was told that having passed through some experiences in life, how did he feel when he made his first million naira and while he was responding, he said he was excited about it.
He said, "The first good money I made was N40,000 and it was because of my determination. I resigned from my job when my manager who has worked for 12 years, could not buy shoes. When I finished school, I worked with a microfinance bank.
I was earning a monthly salary of N7,500. One day, I inquired with the bank manager about his years at work, and he mentioned he had been on the job for 16 years. It struck me that despite his long service, his attire and footwear were in poor condition. I had a similar conversation with another colleague, a graduate who had been with the bank for 12 years. He was living in a cramped room with his wife and children."
This made me re-assess my own aspirations. I chose to resign from the job because I realized it was not the life I envisioned for myself. I embarked on a job search, but my age was a concern, so I subtracted 10 years from it to improve my prospects."
